We're currently leading a series of workshops with the young string players in a project that culminates in an exciting event at STEAM in Swindon on March 4th 2012, featuring a concert by Bellowhead, and the premier of a suit of new music by Bellowhead's Pete Flood that will be performed by the young people themselves, and soloists including Rob and Miranda.

MORRIS DANCE PROJECT AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL! Thanks to EFDSS, I've been working alongside Laurel Swift, Benjamin Dunks and the incredible South West youth dance company, So We Boys Dance, on a new piece which fuses Morris and Contemporary dance. It's been a brilliant experience - we've spent three weekends developing the piece, and did our first performances as part of the South Bank Centre's 5000 Morris Dancers weekend - see it here.
The highlight of the project so far, however, was our performance as part of On Show 2010 at the Royal Albert Hall ...
ROYAL GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY 'MUSIC DAY' COMMISSION The English Acoustic Collective were part of the Royal Geographical Society's Music Day in June. Our performance included the premier of a new piece I've was commissioned to compose entitled 'Coffee and Tea', which was inspired by images from the RGS Archive, a slideshow of which will be incorporated into the performance.
Our performance and the commission were both thanks to the Exhibition Road Cultural Group, with support from the PRS for Music Foundation. More info - RGS / ERCG. You can read more about how I approached writing the piece in my guest blog for BBC Radio 2's Folk and Acoustic pages.
"This is a joy to listen throughout, from the sheer beauty of Nancy's fiddle playing to the great story telling in song, it is the sound of three consummate musicians delighting in their art. Beautiful tunes, wonderful songs and tremendous musicianship." Martin Simpson.
